Did you know? (Mayan society)

The Mayans built pyramids that were used by Preists though some were just for admiring and used to represent the gods. Some were made for people to walk up.

A stela is a piece of stone with hyroglyphs carved into it. The Mayans made them to remember important events and festivals.

The Mayans had a full writing system and expressed their culture in writing.

Mayan made pottery with bright colours and intricate designs. Lots of the Pottery they made rattled

Every one in the Mayan society got enough food because the poorer people grew the maize and vegetables and kept enough for themselves so as not to starve.

The Mayans played a ball game called pok-a-tok. It was played in a court at the bottom of a temple.pok-a-tok is a mix between soccer, basketball, and kickball and was played with a hard rubber ball so the contestants had to wear safety gear. The games were played staked different mayan city's. The losers of the game had to give their jewelery to the winners;sometimes the losers were taken captive.

The Mayans worshiped the god of rain, Lady rainbow, and the god maize.
The priest decided nearly everything in the Mayans daily life.

Go Mayans

Yesterday I went to Dylan's candy bar and got some lollies (caramel cubes darkand light, sour straps, big jelly snake, and a weird watermelon coconut slice stuff (if anyone reading this knows Maddy McGarvey tell her her mums is a lot better than a proper candy shop)).
Anyway on the way home we saw some crumb stuff on the road that looked like crushed rock. Then we saw a box with some dynamite in it and realised that it was crushed dynamite so we walked a bit faster.

Dandelion Fire

I got Dandelion Fire in the mail (the second book in the 100 cupboards series)! It arrived at 7.15 at night and I am very excited.

100 Cupboards

On Wednesday I got a book called 100 cupboards that looked really good. I read it in about two - three days (could have read it in one day but was also discovering NY). It was one of the best books I have ever read!!!! It was also quite scary and i was reading one part of it and mum came up to me quietly so as not to scare me like my dad accidentally had the day before but scared me even more because she touched me lightly on the shoulder and it felt a bit like one of the charecters in the book was coming up to me. Today I am hoping the next book in the 100 cupboards series arrives in the mail but it could arrive tomorrow or the next day.
I think 100 Cupboards was an absolutely fantabulous book.
Here is the blurb
Blurb: Twelve-year-old Henry York wakes up one night to find bits of plaster in his hair. Two knobs have broken through the wall above his bed and one of them is slowly turning . . .Henry scrapes the plaster off the wall and discovers cupboards of all different sizes and shapes. Through one he can hear the sound of falling rain. Through another he sees a glowing room–with a man pacing back and forth! Henry soon understands that these are not just cupboards, but portals to other worlds.

This book is great and I would recommend it to anyone who want to read a book full of adventure!!!! "mila"

French caramel............mmmmmmmmmmmmmmiam

I got some caramel in France and have tasted it, it is the best caramel I have ever tasted and will probably ever taste. Miam is French for yum!!

On the weekend I went to Staten island and went in a maze which was more like 2 annoyingly wyndy paths. It was pretty lame but the middle had a few nice trees and lots of very prickly rose bushes. I managed to step on a thorn and get caught on a rose bush in the same minute.
The weather is getting cooler as autumn is coming tomorrow.
